Support America's 29.6 Million Businesses

According to the United States Department of Commerce, there are 29.6 million businesses in America. If all Americans set a goal to go out of their way to support their local businesses featuring products made in America, America's employment situation would change dramatically. Without appropriate employment opportunities from the production of products to the point of sale, we have a struggling economy within the borders of the U.S.A. The point of this week's commentary is to help get more people employed from America's 29.6 million businesses, because you are supporting what they make and in turn they will employ more people to produce the items purchased by America's consumers.

The clothing industry is one area that needs your attention. 30 years ago, 90% of the clothing sold in America's stores was American made. In 2010 about 10% of what's available in America's stores is American made. This imbalance alone has added to the loss of millions of jobs in production, shipping, office, sales and marketing. We simply can't continue to be a sales point for imported products, while millions of Americans are unemployed.

My plan in very simply, yet would be very effective. if we make it our goal to purchase American made products. I'm sure that many of America's 29.6 million businesses would be able to re-employ, or expand job opportunities in every field for millions of America’s workers.

In today's business world, we can't be concerned about who owns a company, because people from around the world are now global investors. However, we can focus our purchasing power on the companies employing Americans, who in turn can support themselves and contribute to every level of America's economy. Your support for this plan of action would bring back millions of jobs, we would see more Made in the U.S.A. label, and help add to a more stable employment base in the U.S.A. American workers are depending on you. If you are unemployed, you understand my efforts and the reason I ask that you continue to spread the word.
