As we celebrate the 4th of July and mark the 233rd Anniversary of America’s Independence, it is a good time to make an honest assessment of our way of life in the greatest nation on earth. Conditions have changed since the birth of America’s Independence in 1776, when leaders mainly focused on the ideals of freedom, peace and justice for all.

For centuries, people of virtually all nations and creeds journeyed to America in search of freedom and opportunity. Many ventured here to stake a claim in the vast American frontier, others sought employment during the Industrial Revolution, and still others sought political asylum from oppressive governments. Most came with only pennies in their pocket, but they arrived with courage and a firm hope that they would be successful in America.

As we celebrate Independence Day, I urge you to support American workers and American businesses so that more Americans can enjoy not only the freedom we cherish, but the means to support themselves and their families, who like you and me, are seeking to realize just a small piece of the American dream.

Through our support for American Made products at the cash register, where it really counts, we can help provide the financial means for private sector businesses to invest in a modern industrial revolution which would support many levels of employment and add to the well-being of America’s economy, its cities and local communities. It can be done if we stick together and we all speak up as our founding fathers did 233 years ago! Happy 4th of July!
