Why did America’s National Leaders Allow This to Happen?

During 2024, America marks the 248th Anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.  In 1976, when America celebrated its 200th Anniversary of Independence, the national debt was $450 Billion dollars, or what equaled to $200 dollars per American. In 2024, 48 years later, America's national debt is $35 Trillion Dollars, or what equals to $130 thousand dollars per American to clear America’s national debt.  These statistics are from the Federal Budget Office and demonstrates how America’s national elected leaders did not look out for the American people FIRST. They took loans to cover annual national expenses, which Americans are now obligated to pay back.

If any of us go into debt for our personal needs that’s our own decision. However, government leaders should not be able to put WE the American people in debt, unless the voters approve an emergency loan on an election ballot. Putting the American people in endless DEBT is not what elected officials pledged to do when they were sworn into office.

In 2024, America's leaders will borrow over 43 cents for every federal dollar spent to pay America’s operational expenses and honor foreign aid commitments. A major concern is that a large portion of the money America borrows is being borrowed from foreign countries. The American voters should be the only people to approve any rise in America’s debts. Such a request should be approved by the voters on Election Day. Americans also feel that it’s time for an annual National Balance Budget amendment in Washington so that our national budget is the same as it is in states across America, BALANCED.
