The response from people who support our Buy American Made Campaign continues to be impressive. Some people tell me they speak up and are making an impact where they shop, but some people say they are embarrassed to speak up because they feel store clerks will view them as a complainer. In order for us to continue to make progress to expand job opportunities, every one of us must speak up. Don't be embarrassed to make a positive statement in behalf of your fellow Americans who need JOBS. The reason Americans finds themselves in a difficult situation is not only because national elected leaders didn't look out for us FIRST, but because the American people became accepting of finding 90% of everything in stores made anywhere but in America. When that happened businesses continued to outsource industries and now because of our silence the American people see family, friends and neighbors unemployed. Because people have been speaking up, reports show there are more items with a "Made in the U.S.A. label" but it is disappointing that toys, clothing, decorations and traditional holiday gift items are NOT made in the U.S.A. This is ironic because these items are being made in countries that don't celebrate Christmas or other holiday celebrations enjoyed by the American people. After all that we have been through during the five-year recession, it is more important than ever that we stand united behind products and services that keep Americans employed. Spread this message to your family, friends and neighbors until every unemployed American is working again. Rome was not built in a day and the journey of a thousand miles begins with the FIRST step, so let's work together and stand united so we will see light at the end of the tunnel. As you shop, spend your money wisely and speak up in behalf of American made so that store owners know that American consumers want a balance between American made and foreign made products. Only you, the consumer, can make positive change happen through your purchasing power. If we don’t speak up for American workers, who will? This is Michael Blichasz.
